There are great markets and restaurants nearby. Did you know…that Nova Scotia has the most Farmers Markets per capita in Canada?! No kidding. To check out certified farmers markets in the province, click here.

Nearby New Glasgow Farmers Market is the place to be Saturday mornings and they get a special mention here. Open every Saturday morning year round, from 9am until 1pm, you’ll find farm fresh produce, locally raised meats, and unique handcrafted items from our talented local artisans. Spend the morning, enjoy a hot coffee, eat lunch and listen to live local music.
You are in the heart of rural Nova Scotia, we have a proud farming community and lots of small businesses and stores. We are proud to support them and hope that you do too. While you are nestled in the woods during your stay, you’re still located just a few minutes away from farms, stores, restaurants and markets. West River Farms is just a few minutes away and has local pork, beef and chicken, perfect for your BBQ!

One thing we are not short on is food! We have a lot of restaurants for all budgets and types of appetites. You must try some Pictou County Pizza while you’re here too!

We cannot forget liquid fuel. Coffee is important. And there are great places for a light meal too. Backstage Brewing is a local micro-brew and if you’re a craft brew enthusiast, you’re going to want to make this a stop. We have some amazingly talented local musicians too (really) and you’ll often find them there and other venues like the Shoebox and East Ave too!
